Biography & Background
As a researcher and multidisciplinary artist, I investigate how bodies, spaces, and collective creations intertwine in artistic expression.
My name is João Pedro Schwingel Carada. I am a Brazilian researcher and multidisciplinary artist, currently a PhD candidate in Contemporary Art at the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. My research explores agency, spatiality, and states of presence in collective performances. With an initial background in music (Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Performance), I have played several instruments — from the oboe, saxophone, and clarinet to traditional Capoeira instruments (which I practiced for six years) — expanding the relationship between listening, sound dramaturgy, body, and physical presence.
At the core of my work lies the belief in art as a community force and a territory of encounter. Whether through performance, theatre, sound installation, or artistic mediation, I seek to create spaces where people can collaborate, experiment, and express themselves freely. In recent years, I have immersed myself in theatre, contemporary performance, cultural management, and interdisciplinary creation at the Students' Theatre of the University of Coimbra (TEUC) and at the College of Arts.
